Frank Tanana, who had one shutout to his credit with the Angels last year, pitched the second of his major league career, beating the Red Sox, 5-0. The Angels started their young lefthander on the way to his victory with three runs in the third inning on singles by Bob Heise, Frank Robinson, Winston Llenas and Bobby Valentine and error by Rick Burleson.
