. . . where the 1970s live forever!

After losing six straight times since being stopped on his 15-game winning streak, Gaylord Perry gained the victory when the Indians defeated the Twins, 4-2. However, the veteran righthander failed to hurl the route, giving way to Tom Buskey with a man on base in the eighth inning.

The Indians scored off Bert Blyleven in the first on a double by Tommy McCraw, sacrifice by Frank Duffy and grounder by Jack Brohamer. Tony Oliva homered for the Twins in the fourth. The Twins loaded the bases in the sixth on a double by John Ellis and two walks and broke the tie with two runs on a single by Duffy. Perry yielded another run in the seventh, but the Indians racked up an insurance marker in the eighth on a double by George Hendrick, bunt by Ellis and sacrifice fly by McCraw. [The Sporting News]
