Two runs in the first on a bases-loaded single by Lou Piniella were enough for the Yankees to defeat the White Sox, 2-1, in a game stopped by rain with one out in the last half of the seventh inning. Sandy Alomar walked, Elliott Maddox doubled and Ron Blomberg drew a pass with one out to set the stage for Piniella's single.
