The first N. L. pitcher to win 15 games this season, Jack Billingham hurled the Reds to a 6-2 victory over the Mets. Billingham gave up a run in each of the first two innings before the Reds put their righthander on the road to victory in the fourth when singles by Cesar Geronimo and Dave Concepcion, sacrifice fly by George Foster, single by Pete Rose and double by Joe Morgan produced three runs. Billingham, who had two hits in three trips, singled home one of the Reds' two runs in the fifth inning. [The Sporting News]
