Homers by Tony Solaita and Fran Healy off Gaylord Perry in the fifth inning carried the Royals to a 2-0 victory over the Indians. Perry, who had won only once since being stopped on a 15-game streak, suffered his seventh defeat in the last eight decisions, dropping his record to 16-8. Al Fitzmorris and Lindy McDaniel, who allowed five hits between them, combined on the shutout.
