. . . where the 1970s live forever!
The Rangers ripped into Joe Coleman for four runs in the third inning and defeated the Tigers, 5-2, behind the four-hit pitching of Steve Hargan. Joe Coleman walked Joe Lovitto to start the stanza and two extra-base hits -- a triple by Jim Sundberg and double by Dave Nelson -- followed to produce the Rangers' initial pair. After Cesar Tovar singled, Jeff Burroughs hit a sacrifice fly for his 104th RBI. Woodie Fryman replaced Coleman and the Rangers' fourth run of the frame counted subsequently on a single by Jim Spencer. The Tigers reached Hargan for their runs on a double by Al Kaline and homer by Jim Nettles in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
