Griffey singled in the eighth, stole second and continued to third on a bad throw by Barry Foote. Terry Crowley walked and gave way to Morgan, who stole second. Pete Rose then singled, driving in both runners. The Reds added another tally before the inning ended on a single by Cesar Geronimo, pass to Tony Perez and sacrifice fly by Dan Driessen.
