Nolan Ryan became first pitcher in modern history to strike out 300 or more batters in each of three consecutive seasons as the Angels' righthander defeated the Brewers, 9-2. Ryan fanned nine to bring his total to 304 after whiffing 329 in 1972 and 383 in 1973. Frank Robinson provided the principal batting support for Ryan, hitting two homers and a triple and driving in four runs.
