A sacrifice fly by Barry Foote in the eighth inning provided the Expos with a 2-1 victory over the Cubs. Mike Torrez, who pitched a five-hitter for the Expos, gave up the Cubs' run in the first on a walk to Don Kessinger, groundout by Jose Cardenal and single by Jerry Morales. Torrez helped himself to the tying run in the fifth, hitting a single and completing the journey around the bases on an infield out by Larry Lintz and singles by Tim Foli and Willie Davis.

Davis led off the eighth with another single and Ron Woods was safe on an error. Mike Jorgensen flied out, but Bob Bailey singled to load the bases before Foote came up and hit his sacrifice fly. [The Sporting News]
