Pinch-hitting with two men on base, Jose Morales came through with his first major league homer to climax a seventh-inning rally that brought the Expos a 5-4 victory over the Pirates. Singles by Rennie Stennett, Al Oliver, Richie Zisk and Ed Kirkpatrick gave the Pirates two runs in the first before the Expos picked up a counter in the fourth on a double by Bob Bailey and single by Barry Foote. Richie Hebner homered in the fifth and the Pirates made it 4-1 in the sixth with a run on singles by Frank Taveras and Ken Brett around an error by Ron Woods.

The Expos opened their rally in the seventh with a run on a single by Mike Jorgensen and a double by Larry Parrish. Then, after Hal Breeden hit a pinch-single and gave way on the paths to Tony Scott, Morales batted for Larry Lintz and crashed his game-winning homer. [The Sporting News]
