. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The smallest crowd ever (748) at Candlestick Park saw the Giants' Jim Barr dispose of the Braves, 4-2, in just one hour, 38 minutes on a seven-hitter, featuring homers by Bobby Bonds and Gary Thomasson. Bonds doubled home Thomasson, who had singled, in the first, but Dusty Baker tied the game with a solo homer in the second.

A double by Steve Ontiveros and single by Mike Phillips made it 2-1 Giants in the second. Bonds homered with the bases empty in the third and Thomasson duplicated that effort in the fifth. Singles by Frank Tepedino, Craig Robinson and Johnny Oates plus a groundout produced the final Atlanta run in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
