. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Al Kaline singled for the 2,993rd hit of his career to open the rally that brought the Tigers a 5-3 victory over the Red Sox. Bernie Carbo hit a two-run homer for the Red Sox in the first inning, but the Tigers came back with two in the second on a homer by Bill Freehan, double by Reggie Sanders and single by Aurelio Rodriguez. The Red Sox regained the lead in the fourth when Dick McAuliffe singled and Bob Montgomery doubled.

Kaline singled in the sixth and stopped at second on a single by Freehan. After a sacrifice by Sanders, Leon Roberts singled to drive in both runners. The Tigers added a tally in the ninth on singles by Marvin Lane, Rodriguez and Ron LeFlore. [The Sporting News]
