The Astros, after losing seven previous games in Dodger Stadium this season, got five-hit pitching from Tom Griffin and shut out the West Division leaders, 7-0. The Astros rapped Doug Rau for three runs in the fourth inning on singles by Cesar Cedeno and Bob Watson, a sacrifice fly by Lee May, walk to Doug Rader, single by Milt May and grounder by Tomy Helms.

Three more runs followed in the fifth. Roger Metzger doubled and Watson knocked out Rau with a run-scoring single. Lee May greeted reliever Charlie Hough with a homer. Rader completed the Astros' scoring with a circuit clout off Rick Rhoden in the eighth inning. [The Sporting News]
