After going hitless for the first five innings, the Indians scored four runs in the sixth to defeat the Brewers, 6-3. The Brewers, after picking up an unearned run in the second, made it 3-0 in the third on a double by George Scott, triple by Johnny Briggs and infield out by Darrell Porter.

Dave Duncan drew a pass from Kevin Kobel to open the Indians' sixth and Angel Hermoso was safe on an error by Scott. John Lowenstein doubled for the Indians' first hit, driving in Duncan. George Hendrick lofted a sacrifice fly, scoring Hermoso. Frank Robinson followed with a homer to cross the plate behind Lowenstein.
