Although Nolan Ryan allowed only three hits, the Angels' fireballer was the victim of an error in the seventh inning and lost to the Twins, 3-2. Ryan struck out six, but hurt himself by walking seven. The Angels were leading, 2-1, when the Twins loaded the bases with one out in the seventh inning. Bobby Darwin grounded to shortstop Bobby Valentine, who threw to second in an attempt to start a double play, but John Doherty dropped the relay to first and two runs, one unearned, scored.
