Dan Meyer smashed the first two homers of his major league career and Tom Veryzer drove in four runs with three hits, including a homer, to lead the Tigers to an 8-5 victory over the Brewers. Meyer connected for solo swats in the third and seventh innings, while Veryzer rapped his round-tripper with a man on base in the second and singled home runs in the seventh and ninth.

John Knox accounted for the Tigers' other markers with a single in the seventh. Don Money homered for the Brewers in the first and three of their other runs came on a circuit clout by Sixto Lezcano, who hit his first major league homer in the sixth. [The Sporting News]
