The Phillies built up a 6-0 lead and then clinched their 10-2 victory over the Expos with two-run homers by Del Unser and Willie Montanez. Steve Carlton held the Expos to four hits while collecting three himself and scoring twice. The Phillies picked up two runs, one of them unearned, in the third before piling up four runs in the fourth.

John Montague, who relieved Steve Renko, gave up three straight hits without retiring anyone. Don DeMola took over and ended the inning, but then was the victim of Phillies' homers. Jay Johnstone singled ahead of the drive by Unser in the fifth and Dave Cash was on base with a single when Montanez hit for the circuit in the sixth. [The Sporting News]
