Don Sutton notched his eighth straight victory with relief help from Mike Marshall as the Dodgers nipped the Braves, 4-3, and increased their lead over the Reds in the N. L. West to five games with only eight to play. Sutton took a two-hit shutout into the eighth when Atlanta chased him with a four-hit rally, including a two-run homer by Rowland Office.

Sutton singled home the first run of game in the fourth and doubled in another during the Dodgers' two-run sixth. Jim Wynn's RBI single scored Bill Buckner in the fifth. [The Sporting News]
