Bob Montgomery tied the score with a two-run homer in the ninth inning and then drove in two more runs with a bases-loaded single in the 10th to give the Red Sox a 5-3 victory over the Tigers. Montgomery entered the game after Bernie Carbo batted for Tim Blackwell in the seventh when the Red Sox scored their first run on a bases-loaded walk to Carl Yastrzemski.
