Although their pitchers gave up 13 walks, the Athletics were able to defeat the White Sox, 6-5, with the aid of two homers. Gene Tenace hit for the circuit with two men on base in the first inning and when the A's added three runs in the third, Joe Rudi homered with one aboard. Vida Blue pitched the first five innings and walked seven.
