Jim Wynn hit a grand-slam homer to tie the score in the seventh inning and Steve Garvey singled with the bases loaded in the ninth to give the Dodgers a 7-6 victory over the Reds. The Reds scored four runs in the third, two coming on a round-tripper by Tony Perez, in a kayo of Juan Marichal. The Dodgers had a two-run homer by Ron Cey in the fourth but were losing, 6-2, before a single by Rick Auerbach and passes to Davey Lopes and Bill Buckner filled the sacks in the seventh and set the stage for Wynn's wallop off Pat Darcy, who had taken the mound in relief of Fred Norman.

In the ninth, Auerbach singled. Mike Marshall, the winner in relief, struck out, but Lopes singled and both runners advanced an extra base on an error by Ken Griffey. After an intentional pass to Buckner, Wynn struck out, but Garvey ended game with his winning single. [The Sporting News]
