A triple by Bobby Murcer supplied the big blow when the Giants scored five runs in the fifth inning to nail down a 7-1 victory over the Padres. A double by Steve Ontiveros, single by Dave Rader, pass to John D'Acquisto and sacrifice fly by Von Joshua produced the first marker before Murcer knocked in two with his triple. Another pair scored later on a wild pitch by Rich Folkers, in relief of Dan Spillner, and an error by Randy Hundley on his throw back to the infield.
