Holding a 2-1 lead in what had been a tight game, the Expos began the ninth by kayoing Jerry Reuss with two runs on a single by Larry Parrish and doubles by Pete Mackanin and pinch-hitter Jose Morales.

Larry Demery relieved, but failed to stop the Expos. Pepe Mangual singled, driving in Tony Scott, who ran for Morales. Tim Foli also singled and Mike Jorgensen then doubled, scoring Mangual and Foli. [The Sporting News]
