With the help of a two-run homer by Lenny Randle, Fergie Jenkins gained his third straight victory as the Rangers defeated the White Sox, 3-2. The Rangers picked up their initial run in the first inning on two walks and a single by Jim Fregosi. Randle hit his homer after a single by Cesar Tovar in the third.

Jenkins, who had lost his first two decisions of the year, gave up a White Sox run in the fourth on a walk and singles by Ken Henderson and Bill Melton. Jorge Orta tripled and Carlos May singled for another run in the eighth, but Jenkins bore down to prevent further scoring. [The Sporting News]
