. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The Mets scored eight runs in the first two innings and breezed to their seventh straight victory, defeating the Cubs, 9-1. Doubles by Felix Millan and singles by Rusty Staub, Dave Kingman, John Milner and Jerry Grote produced three runs for the Mets in the first.

Del Unser walked in the second. After Rick Monday dropped a fly ball by Millan in center field, Joe Torre drove in both runners with a single. Following another single by Staub, Kingman struck out but Milner came up and hit a three-run homer. Tom Seaver doled out seven hits to end the Cubs' four-game winning streak. [The Sporting News]
