The Dodgers extended their winning streak to seven games by defeating the Braves, 5-2, to hand Carl Morton his first loss of the season after five straight victories. The Dodgers started the scoring in the first inning with a run on singles by Davey Lopes and Lee Lacy and a double by Jim Wynn. A single by Rick Auerbach, pass to Lopes, single by Lacy and error by Darrell Evans added two tallies in the second.

The Braves closed the gap when Vic Correll singled and Larvell Blanks homered in the fourth, but the Dodgers pulled away with their final two runs in the sixth on singles by Doug Rau and Lopes around a passed ball, an error by Ralph Garr and single by Lacy. [The Sporting News]
