. . . where the 1970s live forever!

A leg cramp forced Steve Stone off the mound in the sixth inning, but the righthander received credit for his fourth straight victory when the Cubs defeated the Mets, 5-2. The Cubs took a 2-0 lead before the Mets tied the score in the third on a double by Del Unser, walk to Rusty Staub, and singles by John Milner and Ed Kranepool.

Stone batted himself back into the lead in the fourth. After Pete LaCock singled and Manny Trillo was hit by a pitch, Stone singled, scoring LaCock and putting the Cubs ahead to stay. [The Sporting News]
