The batting comination of Charlie Spikes and Rico Carty, who drove in two runs apiece, enabled the Indians to gain a 4-3 victory over the Orioles, who went down to their fifth straight defeat. Carty homered in the second inning, but the Orioles came back with a round-tripper by Elrod Hendricks in the third.

After Spikes put the Indians ahead again with a run-scoring single in their half of the third, the Orioles forged in front with two runs in seventh on homer by Lee May and pinch-double by Jim Northrup. However in the eighth, Spikes tied the score with a double and then crossed the plate with the winning run on a single by Carty. [The Sporting News]
