Capping a four-run rally in the ninth inning, the Rangers scored on a wild pitch by Frank Tanana to defeat the Angels, 4-3, for their sixth straight victory. Singer, who started for the Angels, allowed only three hits and held a 3-0 lead going into the fatal ninth. Leading off, Jeff Burroughs struck out, but the pitch was wild and Burroughs reached first safely. Mike Hargrove followed with a double and Rpy Howell walked to load the bases.

With a count of two balls on Joe Lovitto, Singer was removed in favor of Mickey Scott, who completetd the pass, forcing in the first run. Roy Smalley drove in the second run with a sacrifice fly and Jim Sundberg followed with a single to tie the score. Dick Lange relieved and passed Cesar Tovar to reload the bases. The Angels then brought in Tanana, who uncorked a wild pitch on his third delivery to Willie Davis, allowing Lovitto to score the winning run. [The Sporting News]
