Don Gullett helped himself to victory with a two-run single and Joe Morgan also drove in two runs with a single as the Reds concentrated their scoring in the fifth inning to defeat the Mets, 4-3. Walks to Cesar Geronimo and Ken Griffey around a single by George Foster loaded the bases before Gullett rapped his single. Then, after another walk, Morgan tagged reliever Bob Apodaca's first pitch for the game-deciding hit.
