Jim Kaat's streak of five straight victories this year and 12 in a row over two seasons came to an end when the Orioles defeated the White Sox, 3-2. A double by Bill Stein led to a White Sox run off Ross Grimsley in the third inning, but the Orioles bounced ahead with a pair in the fourth on a single by Lee May, triple by Bobby Grich and sacrifice fly by Brooks Robinson. After two walks and a single by Buddy Bradford tied the score in the fifth, the Orioles put over the winning run in their half when Paul Blair tripled and Tommy Davis doubled. [The Sporting News]
