The Brewers won the completion of the previous night's suspended game, 3-2, in the 15th inning before going on to beat the Rangers in the regularly-scheduled contest, 8-5. Hank Aaron drew a walk to set up the winning run in the conclusion of the suspended game and then drove in four runs with a sacrifice fly and homer, the 737th of his career, in the regular contest.

An A. L. curfew had halted the clubs in a 2-2 tie after 14 innings in the previous night's game and when play resumed, Aaron drew his walk. Rob Ellis came in to run. Sixto Lezcano sacrificed and Darrell Porter was passed intentionally. Pedro Garcia popped up, but Tim Johnson was safe on an error by relief pitcher Jackie Brown, loading the bases. Brown then hit Don Money with a pitch to force in the winning run.

There were six homers in the game that followed. In addition to Aaron's blast, Bobby Mitchell and Lezcano hit round-trippers for the Brewers, while the Rangers had circuit clouts by Roy Howell, Mike Hargrove and Toby Harrah. [The Sporting News]
