Tommy Harper slammed two homers in the nightcap to give the Angels a 3-2 victory over the Orioles after the Orioles, on a ninth-inning Bobby Grich homer, had won the opener. After Mike Cuellar retired 17 straight batters following Harper's two-run shot in opening frame, he served another gopher ball to Harper in the seventh stanza. Don Baylor smashed a two-run homer for the Orioles in the first inning but his teammates got only two hits off Ed Figueroa the rest of the game.
