Tommy Harper slammed two homers in the nightcap to give the Angels a 3-2 victory over the Orioles after the Orioles, on a ninth-inning Bobby Grich homer, had won the opener. After Mike Cuellar retired 17 straight batters following Harper's two-run shot in opening frame, he served another gopher ball to Harper in the seventh stanza. Don Baylor smashed a two-run homer for the Orioles in the first inning but his teammates got only two hits off Ed Figueroa the rest of the game. Jim Palmer's shutout was his third of the season and 29th of his career.
