Enzo Hernandez drove in three runs with a pair of singles and a sacrifice fly and Mike Ivie got three hits to pace the Padres to an 8-2 victory over the Cubs. The Padres erupted for six runs in the first three innings off starter Bill Bonham. Dave Winfield singled in two runs in the first inning.

In the second canto, Hector Torres singled with two out and Johnny Grubb walked. Hernandez singled in one run and Bobby Tolan another, putting the Padres ahead, 4-0. Hernandez drove in another run with a third-inning single and one more in the seventh with a sacrifice fly. [The Sporting News]
