Larry Biittner hit a homer and Tony Scott drove in two runs as the Expos knocked off the Reds, 4-2. Biittner's homer came in the second to tie the score at 1-1 and the Expos took the lead for good when Scott grounded out with the bases loaded in the fourth.

Tim Foli's double and Pepe Mangual's single produced another tally in the eighth and Scott's single scored Mangual. The Reds scored in the first when Expos' catcher Gary Carter failed to tag the plate on a bases-loaded force play. Their other counter came in the ninth when Pete Rose singled in Ken Griffey.
