. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Vida Blue became the majors' first eight game winner of the season, hurling the A's to a 4-2 victory over the Yankees. The A's broke a 2-2 tie in the seventh when Billy Williams doubled and pinch-runner Don Hopkins scored on Sal Bando's single. They added an insurance marker in the eighth on a walk to Bill North, a sacrifice and Reggie Jackson's double. Blue permitted as many as two baserunners in only one inning, the second.
