Given a second chance when outfielder Leon Roberts dropped his foul pop with two out in the 11th, Tom Grieve singled home Willie Davis to give the Rangers a 7-6 victory over the Tigers. Texas pulled even at 3-3 in the eighth inning on Jim Sundberg's homer after the Tigers had used solo homers by Aurelio Rodriguez and Roberts to gain an early 3-1 advantage. Detroit scored three times in the top of the 10th on run-producing doubles by Nate Colbert and Gene Lamont, but the Rangers came from behind again to tie the score, 6-6, the big blow being a two-run homer by Jim Fregosi.
