Ken Brett shackled the Dodgers on two hits -- a first-inning single and ninth-inning homer by Davey Lopes -- contributed two doubles and a single, driving in one run and scoring another as the Pirates tripped Los Angeles, 7-2. Lopes' hit, two walks and a double-play ball by Steve Garvey gave L.A. a 1-0 lead in the first, but Brett allowed only three baserunners the rest of the way. Leading, 2-1, in the sixth, the Pirates broke the game open with four runs. Frank Taveras singled home two and Brett capped the rally with his second two-bagger. [The Sporting News]
