Home runs by Leon Roberts, Willie Horton and Gary Sutherland accounted for all the Tiger scoring as Detroit whipped Minnesota, 6-3. Roberts staked the visitors to a quick lead with his two-run blast in the first. Horton duplicated that effort in the third. Sutherland hit solo round-trippers in the seventh and ninth innings. Winning pitcher Joe Coleman was touched for all of the Twins' tallies in the fifth, a two-run homer by Bobby Darwin and RBI single by Tom Kelly which scored Tony Oliva, who had doubled.
