The Tigers' five-run explosion in the sixth inning helped Mickey Lolich gain the first victory in his last four decisions as Detroit defeated the Twins, 5-3. The Tigers tallied all their runs after two were out, Dan Meyer contributing a two-run triple and Bill Freehan driving home two more with a double. Twins' shortstop Danny Thompson made errors on two consecutive ground balls to keep the rally alive.
