Run-scoring singles in the ninth inning by Eric Soderholm and Tom Kelly and four-hit pitching by Bert Blyleven gave the Twins a 2-1 victory over the Brewers. The Brewers had a 1-0 lead in the ninth with one out when Tony Oliva and Larry Hisle singled off starter and loser Ed Sprague.

Tom Murphy relieved and Soderholm and Kelly followed with their hits to drive in the tying and winning tallies. The Brewers' run resulted when Bobby Mitchell walked, stole second, moved to third on catcher Glenn Borgmann's throwing error and came home on George Scott's single. [The Sporting News]
