Don Sutton became the first major league pitcher to win 10 games this season when the Dodgers defeated the Expos, 6-5. Jim Wynn and Steve Garvey homered for the Dodgers, while Davey Lopes drove in three runs with a double and single. After the Dodgers took a 4-3 lead, Ron Cey singled in the eighth inning, Rick Auerbach walked and, after a sacrifice by Sutton, Lopes singled to drive in both runners and provide the game-winning hit.

Pat Scanlon homered in the Expos' half of the eighth. Sutton then departed with a blister on his pitching hand and Jim Brewer allowed the Expos' final run in the ninth on a walk and singles by Pepe Mangual and Barry Foote. [The Sporting News]
