The White Sox ended a six-game losing streak, their longest since 1972, by piling up 14 hits to defeat the Brewers, 9-2. Wilbur Wood also ended his personal four-game losing streak, pitching his first complete game since April 19.

Pat Kelly ignited the White Sox scoring by hitting a homer in the fifth inning. Three more runs followed on singles by Jorge Orta, Bucky Dent and Carlos May, a sacrifice fly by Ken Henderson and two wild pitches by Bill Champion, who replaced Pete Broberg in the midst of the outburst.
