Eric Soderholm batted in four runs with two homers to carry the Twins to a 7-3 victory over the Orioles. Ken Singleton had three hits including a homer, and Jim Northrup collected a double and single to pace the Orioles to a 3-2 lead before Soderholm hit his first homer to tie the score in the seventh.

The Twins opened the eighth with a single by Jerry Terrell. Rod Carew was safe on an error by Bobby Grich and Larry Hisle beat out a bunt to load the bases.
