. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Joe Rudi hit two homers, including a grand slam, before Sal Bando batted in two runs with a double to enable the Athletics to outlast the Twins, 7-6. Rudi started his slugging with a solo swat in the sixth, but Steve Brye came back with a homer to spark a three-run outburst by the Twins in their half of the sixth, putting them ahead, 4-1.

The A's then scored six runs on only two hits in the seventh. After two walks and an error loaded the bases, Rudi hit his grand slam off Vic Albury. The next two batters, Gene Tenace and Billy Williams, were hit by pitches and Bando drove them home with his double for what proved to be the decisive hit because the Twins counted twice on a homer by Johnny Briggs in the ninth.
