Two second-stringers, Ed Kirkpatrick and Bill Robinson, started in the outfield for the Pirates and both swung big bats to help manhandle the Cardinals. 9-3. Kirkpatrick collected two doubles and two singles in five trips and also made two fine running catches in left field. Robinson batted in three runs with a pair of singles.
