Lou Brock, who sat out the previous night's game for rest, returned to action with renewed vigor and rapped three doubles and a single to lead the Cardinals to an 8-3 victory over the Cubs. Brock scored three runs and drove in two. The Cardinals' 11-hit attack also included a homer and double by Ted Simmons, triples by Bob Forsch and Reggie Smith and a double by Willie Davis. Jerry Morales and Pete LaCock hit homers for the Cubs. [The Sporting News]
