A grand slam by Bill Melton climaxed a five-run outburst by the White Sox in the eighth inning and clinched an 8-3 victory over the Rangers. The White Sox, in winning their fifth straight game, started the big inning with a single by Jorge Orta, who stole second and scored on a single by Carlos May. After a single by Deron Johnson and an error loaded the bases, Melton hit his homer off Fergie Jenkins. [The Sporting News]
