Don Hood allowed only two hits, both homers by Bobby Bonds, in 8 1/3 innings as the Indians defeated the Yankees, 3-2. Hood's only previous victory also was over the Yankees on a four-hitter April 29. Bonds homered in the fourth and again in the ninth. After his second drive, Dave LaRoche relieved Hood and retired the last two batters.

The Indians also scored all their runs off Doc Medich on homers. Oscar Gamble connected for the circuit in the fifth, and in the sixth John Lowenstein walked and Boog Powell rapped a round-tripper for the deciding blow. [The Sporting News]
