Three Pirate pitchers combined for a 5-0 victory over the Cubs. Ken Brett, recently returned from the disabled list, hurled the first seven frames and got credit for the win. The Pirates picked up a 1-0 margin in the fourth inning on Manny Sanguillen's RBI single. That was the difference until the ninth when the visitors added four more, the big blow being Al Oliver's three-run homer. [The Sporting News]
